# Backups & Transfers

> Export bot settings and preview server templates before importing them.

## Bot settings

Botsettings export creates a configuration transfer key. Import reads a transfer key; it is separate from recreating Discord channels and roles.

## Server templates

Template export captures server structure. Preview a transfer key before importing it, including any optional role-import behavior.

,template preview <key>

## Before importing

An import may replace configuration, channels, or roles, depending on the tool. Read its preview and confirmation. Keep transfer keys private.

  A configuration export is not a complete backup of Discord messages or external accounts.

## Command reference

Examples use the default comma prefix. Required inputs use angle brackets; optional inputs use square brackets. Each command notes whether it is also registered in Discord's slash menu.
